Candy! I'm glad I see someone talking about this, since a certain someone won't bring it up. Why is it that apostolics don't wear jewelry, where did that rule come from? I just want some answers already.

hey I barely saw this. for some reason I don't get any updates that I have a comment. Anyways! It's a very ridiculous rule that was made back when the assembly was created.

There is a verse in the bible (don't have it at this moment, I don't feel like getting my bible from the car lol) but it talks about how we shouldn't dress up in jewelry...buuuuut what it is trying to say is we shouldn't let diamonds come before more important things, such as food for our kids, ya know? Well, the apostolics felt that they should take everything literal, for example, the women cant wear pants crap, and forbid all wearing of jewelry. I still don't understand, even thought I was raised in this doctrine. If you ask an apostolic, they wont know an answer either.

Pretty much from my research, the assembly was made up by poor mexicans who couldn't afford nice jewelry, even a wedding ring. Apparently, watches are not considered jewelry because it has a tiny clock on it? WELL....they decided to add it into their doctrine that a wedding band wasn't needed....it doesn't make sense! Just because they couldn't afford one.....it all of a sudden became a rule.

Just like all the other rules that don't make sense....I've come to the conclusion that the people who made up these regulations made it to be demeaning to women and have control over their women, just as a "machista" would! Hope this was helpful? I will send the scriptures when I get the chance. I could seriously talk about this all day!

Yea when I first was told that, I wasn't given a legitimate reason to believe that it's actually biblical. After researching reading and asking a couple other people I realized it real wasn't. I found a really good article on this subject! It's worth the read: http://www.whyileft.org/what-does-the-bible-say-about/what-does-the-bible-say-about-wearing-jewelry/
